Shermer Road Bridge Project to be Delayed; Closure Date to be Rescheduled

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Northbrook, IL: Due to a utility conflict, the anticipated start date for the Shermer Road Bridge Project has been delayed and the previously announced date for the closure of the bridge will be rescheduled. Earlier this week, utility company representatives concluded that they could not temporarily relocate their lines, which are located under the bridge sidewalk, outside of the project area as planned. This conflict will require the designing and implementing of a permanent solution. This work is currently estimated to take five to six months to complete. We expect the bridge work to begin mid-August.

The Shermer Road Bridge Project consists of the removal and replacement of the bridge deck and precast concrete beams that carry Shermer Road over the West Fork of the North Branch of the Chicago River as well as some ancillary work at the site. In order to complete the project, the bridge will be closed for roughly three months. For more information on the project and to sign up to receive future email updates regarding the project, please visit the Village’s website at www.northbrook.il.us/shermerbridge.
