Fresh ideas, free giveaways, and cost effective, earth-friendly ways to conserve energy and save the environment will be the focus of Northbrook’s 28th Earth and Arbor Day celebration on Saturday, April 21, 9:00 a.m. – noon, on the Village Green. The event, sponsored by both the Village and the Park District, will feature an Expo of local and regional exhibitors promoting eco-friendly ideas and concepts for homes or businesses. Exhibits will feature the latest in home weatherization measures, renewable energy concepts, information from local utilities, and environmentally friendly products.
Recycling services will again be available on the west side commuter lot by the METRA station. Materials that will be accepted at the event include: paint (oil and latex only), molded Styrofoam, tires, CFL, LED and tube fluorescent bulbs, printer cartridges, household batteries, computers, TVs and other electronics, scrap metal, and cardboard. Donations of new and used clothing and household items will be given to area charities. Residential on-site document shredding (three bag limit) will be available as well. Drop-off hours are 8:30 a.m. to noon.
