Village Begins Water Meter Replacement Project - Northbrook residents and businesses can expect to receive information about the upcoming replacement of water meters with new exterior meters. According to the Village website, the new devices will allow for remote real-time reading of meters by staff and water users, which will help identify leaks and enable users to manage water more efficiently. The Village and its partner Veregy LLC are currently in the audit stage of the replacement project; installation of the new meters is projected to begin in the fall of 2024. Read more on the Village website.
Dundee Road Lane Closures - Expect to see intermittent lane closures on Dundee Road as the Village replaces sections of a water main between Western Avenue and Meadow Road. The existing water main, installed in 1963, runs under the railroad lines as well as the West Fork of the North Branch of the Chicago River. Work began in early March and is expected to be substantially completed by June. More details here.
Business Licenses Extended Through June - As described in last month’s newsletter, Northbrook is working on upgrades to its business license process to allow for streamlined online access and a new fee structure. In a community email March 14, the Village announced that licenses will now be valid through June 30, 2024 and that the Village Board will be reviewing recommendations for process improvements in April and May. Questions about business licenses can be addressed to businesslicense@northbrook.il.us.
