Northbrook Business Licenses Moving Online

The Village of Northbrook has extended its annual business license approvals into the spring, while it works to update and streamline its licensing processing. The goal is to reduce the number of categories requiring licenses and modernize the current system with easy online renewals.

Northbrook’s municipal code currently requires licenses for over 30 categories of businesses. This year, the usual January 1 renewal deadline has been pushed back to at least the end of March while the Village implements new standards and online renewal access. According to Village Manager Cara Pavlicek, the updated process will reduce the number of required fees and simplify renewals for businesses with no changes. She explained at a recent Chamber Board meeting, “We’re looking at models that simplify categories and are not as focused on fees except for those areas where we have a high propensity for inspections,” such as bars and restaurants.
