As we move into June, there is a sense of cautious optimism in the air. Many of our member businesses have been busy over the last two weeks preparing to reopen after a long shutdown, or to expand the ways they serve customers. At every step, the owners I’ve talked to are keeping the safety of customers and employees top-of-mind. It’s been great to see Village leadership step up to support local business through proactive policies like the new small business grant program.
The Chamber is in a unique position to assist members as you navigate changing guidelines and expectations. We are in frequent communication with state and local authorities, chambers, and associations to ensure that we can provide updated and accurate information. Our social media audience has grown tremendously since the shutdown — for example, the Chamber’s Facebook page added over 500 followers, and our posts have reached more than 50,000 unique users. This reflects the value users place on the important information shared through our platform.
Our social media growth is also a great marketing opportunity for members to reach the wider community. Northbrook stores and restaurants are encouraged to share their updated hours and services through the Northbrook Shopping Elf page, and other types of businesses are often featured on the Chamber’s public page. If you have a special limited-time offer to promote, the Chamber can post it as a Hot Deal on our website. These are just a few of the ways that your Chamber membership can help build your business’s visibility, at no additional cost.
Since much of life continues on the virtual plane, please plan to join us for First Friday “Breakfast” networking on June 5 at 8:00 a.m. We have had outstanding participation of over 85 members for the last two months, and the event continues to be a vibrant source of business leads, ideas, and support. The creativity and resilience that has sustained our virtual events will continue to pay dividends long after this crisis has passed.
