The Chamber invites small business owners to take advantage of special programming and marketing opportunities during National Small Business Week (NSBW), September 13-17. Each year, the US Small Business Administration sponsors NSBW to acknowledge the contributions of American small businesses and provide extra support for their endeavors. The Chamber can enhance those benefits for your business through its social media, free marketing tools, and productive networking options.
NSBW 2021 includes a three-day Virtual Summit produced by SBA with educational webinars, updates on resources for small businesses, and a networking chat room for business owners and aspiring entrepreneurs. SBA Administrator Isabella Casillas Guzman described the goals of Small Business Week programming: “NSBW is the perfect time for small businesses across the nation to network and learn about the many services and programs at the U.S. Small Business Administration, including our no-cost business counseling and mentoring opportunities available via our district offices and resource partners.”
Small businesses will also be recognized at the local level. Northbrook Trustees are expected to approve a proclamation in honor of NSBW, encouraging residents to support local businesses when they shop, dine, and purchase services.
In addition to educational and networking programs, NSBW presents unique marketing opportunities to promote your business. The Chamber can help amplify your message with our website Hot Deals and social media platforms. For assistance, contact Communications Manager Carolyn Gessner. E-marketing specialists at Constant Contact suggest the following approaches:
- Use social media to share the story behind your business. The hashtag #MySmallBizWhy personalizes your business to create a stronger connection with customers.
- Thank your customers. Especially after the past year, most small businesses have been grateful for the support of longtime clients. Show how much you value that relationship with an NSBW-themed email or special offer.
- Combine forces. Consider a joint NSBW promotional event with neighboring businesses. September is a great time for sidewalk sales and open houses (outdoor events are particularly appealing under current circumstances).
