The Chamber welcomes nominations for members to serve on its Board of Directors, beginning in January 2021. The Board consists of volunteers from a variety of businesses representing the diverse nature of the local business community. As the Chamber’s governing body, the Board meets each month to discuss planning, goals, and the state of the organization.
Board members are asked to commit to three-year terms, and attend meetings on the second Thursday of each month. (Currently, meetings are at 8:00 a.m. via Zoom. They have traditionally been held at the Chamber office at 7:30 a.m.). Board members are also expected to actively participate in Chamber events and support the organization’s initiatives.
The Board’s Nominating Committee will meet during the month of September to review names of candidates and select a slate to fill Board vacancies. Selection will be based on a number of factors, including the nominee’s length and depth of Chamber involvement, participation in civic activities, Northbrook residency or ties to Northbrook, and an interest in advocating for the business community. The slate of candidates will be announced in the November e-newsletter. Following that announcement, members may add a name for consideration by submitting a petition signed by 20 qualified members by Wednesday, November 25. A final vote on all candidates will be taken by the Board at the December 10 meeting.
