The Nominating Committee of the Chamber’s Board of Directors is identifying members who might be interested in serving on the Board, beginning in January 2020. The Board is the Chamber’s governing body, with representatives from a diverse range of industries and business sizes. Each month, Board members meet to discuss direction, share ideas, and set goals for the organization’s activities.
Board members are asked to commit to a three-year term, with meetings on the second Thursday of each month at 7:30 a.m. Members may serve up to two three-year terms.
By mid-September, the Nominating Committee will review the names of candidates submitted and select a slate to fill Board vacancies. In reviewing candidates, consideration will be given to the length and depth of involvement with the Chamber, participation in civic activities, Northbrook residency or ties to Northbrook, and an interest in advocating for the business community.
The slate of candidates will be announced in the November newsletter. Following that announcement, members may add a name for consideration (including their own) by submitting a petition signed by 20 qualified members by Friday, November 15. A final vote on all candidates will be taken by the Board at the December 12 meeting.
