Chamber Welcomes New Programs Manager Katie Walther

The Chamber is pleased to welcome Katie Walther as the new Programs and Services Manager. Katie joined the staff last month in the part-time position where she will oversee the Chamber’s monthly programs including Small Office/Home Office, Women in Business and Lunch and Learn programs. She will also coordinate the Chamber’s three largest events: the Golf Outing, Business Expo and Auction and Taste.

Before leaving the workforce to raise her family here in Northbrook, Katie was Director of Sales with Navy Pier from 1997 – 2002. In her position, she drove the business development for Navy Pier’s festival hall to all mid-size conventions and trade shows, both public and private. She also collaborated with Navy Pier’s marketing staff to promote the venue as the number one tourist attraction in Illinois. Prior to that, she was Convention Services Manager for the Chicago Convention and Tourism Bureau, where she was the liaison responsible for connecting various Chicago hotels, restaurants, venues and hospitality companies with conventions and trade shows taking place in Chicago. She also assisted contracted conventions at both McCormick Place and Navy Pier, organizing off-site meetings, events and activities.

Katie has been an active parent volunteer since 2002, helping with her children’s many programs and fundraisers at their schools including St. Norbert’s, Greenbriar Elementary and Northbrook Junior High.

“As a longtime Northbrook resident, Katie brings to the position a wealth of community knowledge as well as years of experience with event planning. This makes her ideally suited to contribute to the success of the Chamber and its membership,” comments Chamber President Tensley Garris. “I encourage the members to introduce themselves to Katie when they see her at events or when they stop by the office.”

Katie can be reached at (847)513-6003, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursdays, 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. Her e-mail address is
