After months of detours and confusion about the legality of right turns on red lights, Dundee Road is now expected to be open for traffic the week of December 9. Village Engineer Matt Farmer made the long-awaited announcement at the Village Board meeting on November 12.
The IDOT-controlled project replaced a culvert below Dundee at Lee as well as the road surface above it, requiring a complete closure of Dundee. Originally scheduled for completion by Halloween, the project was delayed by a water main break caused by a contractor.
Farmer reported that some lane closures will be required in the spring, when workers will replace the section of Lee Road between Dundee and Shermer. However, Dundee will remain at least partially open during that work.
