There will be plenty of fresh ideas, free giveaways, and cost effective, earth-friendly ways to conserve energy, save money and help the environment at Northbrook’s celebration honoring the 46th Earth and Arbor Day, on Saturday, April 16 from 9:00 a.m. – noon. on the Village Green.
In addition to a number of recycling opportunities, the event will feature an Expo of local and regional exhibitors promoting earth-friendly ideas and concepts for homes or businesses to conserve energy. Some of the exhibits will feature the latest in home weatherization measures, renewable energy concepts, updates from local utilities, and environmentally friendly products. Go Green Northbrook will be holding a children’s fair, providing educational and fun activities for kids to learn about the outdoors and the environment.
Recycling will again be set up on the west side commuter lot by the METRA station. Among the materials that will be accepted are paint (oil and latex only), tires, CFL and tube fluorescent bulbs, printer cartridges, household batteries, computers, TVs and other electronics. Donations of new and used clothing and household items, as well as bicycles, will be donated to area charities. Residential on-site document shredding will be available as well. Drop-off hours are 8:30 a.m. to noon.
