Free Marketing & Communication Tools For Chamber Members

Members looking to share news with fellow Chamber members as well as business and community leaders have a valuable partner with the Chamber, with a wide array of options ranging from print to web to social media at their disposal. While there are different guidelines and deadlines for each, all of the following communication tools are available to members at no charge.


The Chamber’s 8-page monthly newsletter features 14 – 15 news items about Chamber members on the Business Briefs page, offering a convenient way to announce an event or program, fundraiser, new product, store opening, a new website, an award or special recognition. News items must be submitted by the 10th of the month and should be no more than 50 words. The newsletter is circulated to roughly 1,000 Chamber members and civic leaders and is published on the Chamber website for further reach.


Another popular way to share news is through the Chamber’s monthly e-blast, which is sent to over 1900 Chamber e-mail contacts the first business day of each month. Appropriate information for e-Announcements follows the same guidelines as the newsletter, but can be particularly helpful when promoting events, classes or programs as a registration or website link can be included. Videos posted to YouTube and links to news articles about Chamber members are also often featured in the e-blast. News items must be submitted to by the 25th of the prior month, and are accepted on a first come, first served basis. Due to space limitations, announcements are limited to 40 words.

Members Only Page

Members can easily promote an event or fundraiser on the Member’s Only portal, accessible through the Chamber’s website Any employee of a member business is eligible to have his or her own login credentials. This will allow access to the Members Only page where they can post an event for that business with pictures or graphics along with other relevant information of any length. It is important to note that the Members Only calendar is private and only visible to other Chamber members.


The Chamber Facebook page is an increasingly popular way to publicize last minute events and late breaking news from members. The page features colorful photos of Chamber events and is dedicated to business news and announcements. Growing each week, the Chamber page has over 750 page “Likes” with an average of 100 views on each post. Members who “Like” the Chamber page can be tagged in photos, and can share the posts and photos onto their own Facebook page. Photos and website links are the best way to make the post stand out. As there are no deadline requirements for Facebook, it’s ideal for last minute news or to reinforce an earlier announcement.

The Chamber also oversees the “Northbrook Shopping Elf” page which features special sales and hot tips on the Northbrook shopping and dining scene. The page is a joint project with the Village of Northbrook, offering Northbrook retailers and restaurants an opportunity to showcase special sales or menu offerings.
