Along with the traditional fun, this year’s Golf Outing had plenty of excitement including a hole-in-one and a two scorecard playoffs to determine first, second and third place winners. Weather was no obstacle for the 160 golfers who enjoyed 18 holes of golf capped off by an outstanding cocktail hour and dinner at Marcello’s.
In addition to the 31 different skills contests with prizes, cash prizes were awarded to the top three foursomes. With two foursomes coming in at 16 under, a scorecard playoff for first place was decided by using the best score on the hardest hole played by both teams. Phil Kuhn’s foursome made an eagle to take the top prize. The team of Mark Debartolo, Elizabeth Fritz, Dick Hochschild and Alan Karzen made a birdie to take second place.
Another scorecard playoff was decided for third place, with two foursomes coming in at 15 under, ultimately decided by the best score on the hardest hole — #7 on the Classic 18. The United Services foursome of Rebecca Falzone, Bob Miller, Larry Smith and John Lindelof was barely edged out by the team of Clark Fideler, Justin Bently, Ike Robertson and Dan Singleton, who made an eagle to come in third. A hole in one was hit by David Lang on #3 on the Classic 18 course. For the third year in a row, John Stensberg beat out 40 participants to win the Putting Contest on the putting green.
Winner of the $500 Grand Prize raffle was Bob Mayer, TechServIT, who donated the money back to the Chamber for the Meal Packing program. The second prize $500 gift certificate for Elegance in Meats winner went to Dan Matthews. Mark Striblen, Craig and Associates took home the third prize $150 Morton’s gift certificate. There were 50 other raffle prizes generously donated by Chamber members.
