Congratulations to Zengeler Cleaners for collecting over 2,400 coats, jackets and other winter apparel valued at over $300,000 as part of its “Coats for Vets” drive. Zengeler’s cleaned and repaired all of the items and delivered them in time for Veterans Day.

The award-winning Northbrook Park District Winter Carnival returns to Meadowhill Park on Saturday, January 16 from 11:00 a.m. -1:30 p.m. with horse-drawn trolley rides, ice sculpting and a dogsled demonstration. Oakton Community College recently received a National Science Foundation grant to develop undergraduate astronomy curriculum in partnership with Northwestern University and the Adler Planetarium. Funding will allow Oakton students to be better trained in galaxy identification and design activities on zooniverse.org, a global citizen web portal that contributes to astronomical discoveries.

Lindsey Piegza, Chief Economist for Stifel, Nicolaus & Co. will be the keynote speaker at the Glenview State Bank Economic Outlook breakfast at 7:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 20 at Atlantis Banquets in Arlington Heights.
