Glenview State Bank will host a Shredding Event on Saturday, June 18, 9:00 a.m. – noon  at its Glenview office.  Up to 25 pounds of paper documents can be disposed of; drive through service is also provided.

Steven Lewis, Lewis Floor and Home was recently appointed to the Village of Northbrook’s Industrial and Commercial Development Commission (ICDC).   The eleven member ICDC acts in an advisory capacity to the Village Board of Trustees on matters that impact the Northbrook business community.

The Rotary Club of Northbrook announced that it recently awarded grants to several local organizations, including  Youth Services of Glenview Northbrook, Northbrook Symphony, North Suburban YMCA, Hunger Resource Network and the Northern Suburban Special Recreation Association (NSSRA.)  The grants are made possible by the many Rotary fundraisers throughout the year.

Area municipal Fire Departments will compete at the Hilton Chicago Northbrook “rib off” on Saturday, June 25, noon to 4:00 p.m. featuring a friendly cooking challenge for the best ribs, raffle to benefit a local charity and other hospitality and family activities on the newly landscaped patio.

Congratulations to Vic Micelli, Des Plaines Office Equipment, who was  honored by the Small Business Advocacy Council (SBAC) as its Advocate of the Year.  Micelli was recognized for his efforts on behalf of entrepreneurs to help them reduce operational costs and for promoting the SBAC goals of advocating for small businesses.

Northbrook School District 28 was one of seven school districts in the state to receive national recognition for outstanding music education.  For the second year, the district received the Best Communities for Music Education designation from the  National Association of Music Merchants Foundation.

The Northbrook Police Department seeks donations for this year’s Law Enforcement Torch Run on Sunday, June 5 in support of Special Olympics Illinois.   Funds will go towards “adopting” an officer who will be running a 36 mile leg of the 1,500 mile statewide  race.  Call (847)664-4422 for a copy of the adoption form.
