To encourage business participation in the signature annual fundraiser Windy City Rubber Ducky Derby this summer, Special Olympics Illinois will visit any business and present a lunch program, accompanied by their mascot Splash as well as athlete speakers who will tell their story. The American Cancer Society is looking for volunteers to help with the “Making Strides Against Breast Cancer” event this October. Members of the volunteer committee help plan entertainment, find sponsors, recruit teams, and communicate the mission. The meetings are held once a month starting Monday, May 16th. Northbrook/Glenview School District 30 will host the 16th annual Lew Blond Memorial 5K Run/Walk raising funds to support research to fight Lou Gehrig’s disease (ALS) on Saturday, May 21 at 8:00 a.m. at Maple School.
