The Nominating Committee of the Chamber’s Board of Directors has announced a slate of candidates to fill vacancies on next year’s Board and add a participant to its Executive Committee. New Board members will begin three-year terms on the Chamber’s leadership body beginning in January 2021.
Candidates slated for Board positions include Lee Brooks, Bell Flavors & Fragrances; Mark DeBartolo, Len Roofing & Remodeling, and Amy Kahhat, First Bank of Highland Park. They will be filling vacancies left by Michael Nortman, Crossroad Partners who is completing his term; Tom Fortman, Bell Flavors & Fragrances, who is retiring; and the late Paul Kaufmann, Shred Spot, who sadly passed away in September.
On the Executive Committee, Bob Caldwell, Hallmark Homecare and Steve Schmit, Wiss Janney Elstner Associates Inc., have agreed to continue for an additional year in their respective roles as Board Chair and Treasurer. Current Board member Katie Roberts, Berkshire Hathaway Home Services Chicago – Northbrook, has been invited to join the Board’s Executive Committee.
The Nominating Committee consisted of Board Members Bob Caldwell, Stephen Barr, Renaissance Chicago North Shore Hotel; Peter Balyeat, Korman/Lederer & Associates; Robyn Kole, Karlin Kerschner Sharpe & Co. LLP; and member-at-large Ed Gjersten II, Engage Wealth Group. The Committee presented the slate of nominees at the Board’s meeting on October 8.
Under the Chamber by-laws, alternative candidates to the slate may be nominated prior to the next Board meeting on November 12. Alternative candidates must present petitions signed by at least 20 other Chamber members to the Chamber President, Tensley Garris. If no other nominations are received, the slated candidates will be declared elected at the December Board of Directors meeting.
