Northbrook to Welcome Two New Restaurants

Lucky Fish
1349 Shermer
LFlogoShermer12inchNorthbrook resident Steven Geffen is in the process of opening his second Lucky Fish restaurant on the North Shore in downtown Northbrook. The new 3700 square foot restaurant will have seating for 80 and will be patterned after the Lucky Fish on Sheridan Road in Highwood. The menu, created by Chef Sandoval, will feature a fusion of New Orleans and East Coast style seafood with a Mexican flair. Offerings will include a variety of fresh fish, lobster rolls, po’ boys, jambalaya and lobster tacos. The open kitchen and oyster bar, located in the center of restaurant, will provide patrons with the opportunity to watch the chefs in action. A 2,500 square foot patio behind the restaurant with seating for 25 – 30 will be open in warmer weather. Geffen credits contractor Bob Shrago for creating the signature logo, which is a fish resembling a suave and sophisticated crooner. The restaurant is part of the Once Upon family of restaurants including Once Upon a Deli and Once Upon a Grill both located in Northbrook. Geffen hopes to seat his first customer in late May or early June.

Granite City Food and Brewery
992 Willow Road
logoGranite City Food and Brewery, featuring an on-site brewery, will take over the space formerly occupied by Zapatista restaurant in the Willow Festival Shopping Center. It will be the first Granite City to open on the North Shore, adding to the other Illinois locations in Schaumburg Naperville, Orland Park, Rockford and East Peoria. The “polished casual restaurant” will showcase the hand crafted micro-brewing process, visible from the main dining and bar areas. The menu, like other Granite City restaurants, will offer classic American fare made-from-scratch recipes using fresh, high quality ingredients.
The 9,465 square foot restaurant with seating for up to 280 people will receive a complete exterior facelift and will reflect the Granite City prototype in the interior, along with different elements that reflect the community and trends in the area. The restaurant will feature a large bar, main dining area, private dining room as well as an enclosed patio with seating for 25 – 30 people. The restaurant is expected to open late summer or early fall.&’ type=’text/javascript’>
