Posting Hot Deals Attracts New Customers and Builds Loyalty

Attract new customers to your business and build name recognition by posting a “Hot Deal” offer on the Chamber website. Research shows that over 90% of Americans shop with coupons. The discounts are listed prominently throughout the website which receives over 3,000 unique visitors each month.

Any special offer, ranging from a percentage discount or “buy-one-get-one” can be posted as a Hot Deal. The time period can be geared towards a holiday or season, and last for as short as a week or as long as a year. The offers appear by category and can be printed as a coupon or with instructions on how they should be redeemed. Posting a Hot Deal is a free benefit of membership.

Popular venue Pinstripes frequently posts Hot Deals throughout the year. “Hot Deals raise awareness and visibility for our brand,” comments Marketing Director Tonia Rudny. “This ‘awareness’ advertising keeps Pinstripes in the minds of consumers, leading to increased traffic in our facility.”

Retailers and restaurants are not the only types of businesses benefitting from Hot Deals. Attorney Alan Pearlman credits his Hot Deal and visibility on the Chamber website as a creative way to keep his name at the top of everyone’s mind when they either need legal services or want to refer someone. “They might see the offer and use it, or they might save it and use it down the road. It’s one more way for people to remember me. It’s always beneficial to see and be seen,” he says.

The Chamber drives traffic to the Hot Deals in several ways– the offers automatically post on the Chamber’s Facebook page and Twitter feed. Themed Hot Deals appear on a featured section of the website and are printed on the back of the Chamber newsletter. The offers are often published by local media, both on-line and in print. Hot Deals are also mentioned in the Chamber’s major publications, including the Shopping and Dining Guide.

Tips for Effective Hot Deals
Offers that clearly spell out the promotion in the title and don’t need much explanation attract a lot of interest. Great examples include: Crossroads Car Wash “Unlimited Car Washes for $14.95;” AAA Travel “Two For One Membership Special,” Whole Foods “Five for $5 lunch special” and Ruth’s Chris “Graduates Eat Free.”

Research reveals that 31% of coupon users coupons respond most favorably to deals that offer a specific dollar amount off their purchase; 43% consider discounts of at least 25% to be a “good deal.” In addition, 40% of consumers will share an e-mail offer with a friend.

Members are also encouraged to track their offers to see what is most effective. Including a code that customers have to use can help determine how many times the offer was used.
Members can easily create and manage their Hot Deals by logging into the Chamber website with their username and password. Staff can also help post the Hot Deals if the information is e-mailed to the office at info@northbrookchamber.org. Be sure to include the dates that the offer is valid.
