Updated Membership Records Ensure Accurate Referrals

When was the last time you looked on the Chamber website to check the accuracy of your membership listing? Have you changed the name of your business, moved or do you have a new website? Is your company description written so that it will come up in a website search? Is any information missing?

If you had trouble answering any of these questions, or if you joined the Chamber when some of this information may not have been included, the Chamber would like to encourage you to take a minute to look at your membership listing to ensure it is accurate and complete. To check the accuracy of your membership records, log onto the Chamber website www.northbrookchamber.org and search for your business name. Review all the fields and check the link to your website. It’s important to remember Chamber referrals are all based on this information.

In addition to reviewing your contact information, members are reminded to take full advantage of the ability to use up to 600 characters (around 50 words) to describe their business. This offers an opportunity to explain more about a business specialty and for members to differentiate themselves from their competitors. In addition to an accurate and up-to-date business description, members should also make sure they list keywords, which will improve search results both on the Chamber’s website and with major search engines such as Google, Yahoo and Bing.

A convenient way to update your membership records is through the Members Only page of the Chamber website. Once logged onto the page, you can click on the “Company Information” link on the drop down menu. If you do not have a Username and Password, e-mail info@northbrookchamber.org and a link will be sent to you. Or feel free to call the Chamber at (847)498-5555 and a staff member will be glad to make the changes.

As a reminder, all employee or personnel changes must be made by the Chamber. If you have had changes in your staffing, please call or e-mail the Chamber and any staff person can make the updates. Be sure to include e-mail addresses so the individuals can receive the Chamber’s monthly e-Announcements and Friday e-mail. Please note that e-mails provided to the Chamber are not sold, given out, or listed in any publication.

The Chamber’s monthly newsletter offers an outstanding way to keep up to date with all that is going on in the Chamber and in the community. You can always list a different mailing address where you, or others in your office, would like to receive the newsletter or other mailings from the Chamber.
