Road construction in Northbrook has been relatively tame so far this year, but that may change along Waukegan Road this month. IDOT will be resurfacing all lanes of IL-43 from Lake Cook Road to Ammer Drive in Glenview. At the same time ADA-required curb cuts will be added to sidewalks along the route. The project is expected to be completed by the end of 2021.
Village Engineer Matt Farmer shared details of the project at the Village Board’s July 13 meeting. According to Farmer, the Waukegan Road project will involve only top-layer resurfacing of the street and does not include any stormwater or water main improvements. Work will be done on one lane at a time on the four-lane thoroughfare. For traffic status updates, visit gettingaroundillinois.com.
Farmer also reported that IDOT is in the design phase for two major projects on Willow Road, including bridge replacement west of Founders Drive and repaving between Landwehr and Waukegan Roads. The multi-year Willow Road improvements do not have a start date at this time.
